ArmInfo. A meeting took place at the Matignon Palace in Paris between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the newly appointed head of the French government Michel Barnier.
As reported by the press service of the RA government, Michel Barnier welcomed Nikol Pashinyan's visit to France and emphasized his commitment to contribute to the consistent development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. The French Prime Minister noted that he has a special attitude towards Armenia and the Armenian people, and is ready to continue to promote the continuous strengthening of bilateral relations. He warmly recalled the opening of the French Embassy in Armenia in 1995 with his participation.
Nikol Pashinyan once again congratulated Barnier on his appointment as the Prime Minister of France and wished him success. The Prime Minister thanked his colleague for his commitment to the friendship between the two peoples and his personal significant contribution to strengthening the exceptional relations between Armenia and France. The interlocutors highly appreciated the intensive dialogue between Armenia and France, stressing the importance of developing bilateral cooperation in the economy, energy, digital technologies, urban development, agriculture, tourism, and healthcare.
Nikol Pashinyan noted that one of the priorities of the Government of the Republic of Armenia is the development and diversification of the Armenian economy, adding that he attaches great importance to the presence of French companies in Armenia. According to the Prime Minister, the Armenian side expects the participation of French companies and investors, particularly in the implementation of projects in the fields of infrastructure, nuclear and renewable energy, agriculture, and water resources. The Prime Ministers of Armenia and France also stressed the importance of holding the second conference "Ambitions Armenie- France", which can become a unique tool for enhancing multi-sectoral cooperation. The interlocutors pointed out the need to develop decentralized cooperation to expand and strengthen ties between the regions. They also discussed the latest developments in the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the ongoing processes in the South Caucasus region.
