ArmInfo. The work of the customs services of Armenia is still far from ideal, and there are issues related to the significant improvement of their work. Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia Rustam Badasyan told journalists on October 10, commenting on the issue of increased attempts to import drugs into the country.
The head of the SRC pointed out, in particular, the need to improve the electronic management system, risk management and strengthen the capabilities of the canine center. "But if you look at a similar situation in Europe through Google, you will notice that there is also a problem with the illegal trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances," Badasyan noted, noting that if the customs authorities check all cargo without exception, a queue will form all the way to Poti.
For this reason, the head of the SRC noted, it is very important to have a proper risk management system, while developing cooperation with various law enforcement agencies of Armenia and foreign countries. "If drugs are transported across state borders, then this is the responsibility of the Committee, and its capabilities need to be strengthened," Badasyan emphasized.
