Consensus on medical insurance intriduction stages reached - minister

ArmInfo. As a result of numerous different discussions and working negotiations, it seems that there is a consensus on the format of the implementation of the stages of the universal health insurance system.

This was stated by the Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan in an  interview with the Public Television of Armenia. "We are currently  discussing in the government whether the budget will allow us to  launch the first stage in 2025, or whether we will launch it in  2026," she noted.

The minister said that within the framework of the first stage of  implementation, beneficiaries of the state order will be connected to  the universal health insurance system. The next stage is envisaged  for pensioners and citizens whose salaries exceed 360 thousand drams.  And the final stage will cover all citizens of Armenia.

According to Avanesyan, such an approach is used so that the system  is ready for such a number of applications, so that it is possible to  ensure the quality of strategic directions and avoid certain risks.  Let us recall that in November 2023, the Minister of Health of  Armenia Anahit Avanesyan announced at the hearings of the commissions  of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia that the launch  of the universal health insurance system will be given in mid-2024,  18 billion drams will be allocated for these purposes. It was  previously reported that the system will be fully operational in  2027. For these purposes, a Fund will be created that will manage the  funds of the beneficiaries. A Council headed by the Minister of  Health of the Republic of Armenia will be created under the Fund
