The birth rate is decreasing and the death rate is increasing in Armenia

ArmInfo. In Armenia in January-September 2024.  24,997 children were born, which is 7.2% lower than a year ago. The birth rate per 1,000 inhabitants during the reporting period was 11 ppm, compared to 12.2 ppm in 2023. This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.

During the reporting period, 19,100 people died in Armenia, which is 5.4% higher than a year ago. The mortality rate in the country was 8.4 ppm, compared to 8.2 ppm in 2023. Thus, the absolute value of natural population growth was 5,897 people, which is 33.1% lower than the level of a year ago. The natural population growth rate was 2.6 ppm in January-September 2024, compared to 4 ppm in the same period of 2023.
