ArmInfo. The first Tumo center in South America is expected to open in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires in 2025. This was announced by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MESC) of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan at a meeting with the Minister of Education of Buenos Aires Maria de las Mercedes Miguel.
As reported by the MESC, the center will provide about 3,000 teenagers with the opportunity to receive informal professional education in such areas as animation, game creation, music, robotics, cinematography, graphic design, 3D modeling, programming and other areas.
In this regard, Maria de las Mercedes Miguel noted that active educational reforms are also being carried out in Argentina, including in the direction of introducing project-based learning. In this regard, she noted the facilitating role of the Tumo educational model.
Emphasizing the importance of education in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), Maria de las Mercedes Miguel pointed to the need for women's involvement in these educational areas as a challenge. In this regard, Zhanna Andreasyan noted that this is also the goal of a separate policy in Armenia.
According to the source, the head of the Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia presented to the guest programs aimed at developing technological education in Armenia, which have generated interest on various international platforms. Among them, the Armat engineering laboratory, the COAF informal education center, as well as the Artificial Intelligence Generation educational initiative, which was launched in 16 high schools in Armenia in September 2023.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the possibility of exchanging experiences and other issues of mutual interest.
