ArmInfo. A laboratory for the calibration of electrical measuring equipment, time and frequency has been established at the National Center for Standards and Metrology. The beneficiaries of this laboratory include organizations operating in the fields of energy, telecommunications, industry, defense, the military-industrial complex, transport and logistics, as well as manufacturers of medical equipment and high-tech products.
The presence and effective operation of the laboratory will enable the National Body for Standards and Metrology to assist manufacturers and other organizations in enhancing the quality and reliability of their products, ensuring compliance with both national and international standards. According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, this will also contribute to the expansion of exports, improvement of industrial processes and introduction of innovations. Ultimately, this will serve as an incentive for the diversification of international trade and economic development in the country. During the opening ceremony, Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan noted that expanding the metrological potential of the Republic of Armenia opens up new opportunities for the country. This includes the introduction of new quality standards for export diversification and enhancing the quality of goods and services. Alongside the above-mentioned laboratory, the grant program "Support to Quality Infrastructure in Armenia" will establish three additional calibration laboratories at the National Body for Standards and Metrology. This program is funded by the EU and supported by UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization). Launched in 2022, the program has a total budget of 4.1 million euros and a project duration of 39 months.
