According to EEC press service, Ruslan Davydov, the Minister in charge for Customs Cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, took part in a meeting discussing the development of customs checkpoints' infrastructure. The meeting was held under the leadership of Mikhail Mishustin, the Chairman of the Russian Government.
The EEC Minister informed the meeting participants about the best global practices in arranging and organizing checkpoints, as well as the Commission's collaboration with member states to establish unified customs regulations for customs infrastructure across EAEU countries. The head of the EEC customs cooperation block emphasized that in order to ensure smooth movement of goods, it is necessary to simultaneously develop the physical infrastructure of checkpoints and introduce digital technologies. It is a priority to organize work at checkpoints located along international transport corridors passing through the territory of the EAEU. The Chairman of the Russian Government emphasized the importance of implementing comprehensive technical solutions based on digital technologies, including the Internet of Things, big data analysis and artificial intelligence. It was also noted that there is a need to unify and synchronize the efforts of the EAEU countries to develop and modernize customs infrastructure along the external contour of the Eurasian Economic Union.
