ArmInfo. According to the results of the third quarter, Russia ranks first in the trade turnover of Belarus (52.7%) and Armenia (41.1%). This was stated by the Chairman of the Russian Government Mikhail Mishustin in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
Thus, answering the question of why the CIS countries should be together and not at odds, the Russian official noted that the answer is obvious - by joint efforts it is easier to counter the challenges facing the Commonwealth countries and solve problems of improving the quality of life of citizens and strengthening the economies. He added that combining efforts and using each other's strengths provide new opportunities for development.
"For Russia, the Commonwealth states are key partners and closest allies. And the expansion of trade and humanitarian ties between neighboring countries is a natural process. At the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS last week, I already said that the share of the Commonwealth states in our foreign trade has grown to 16.2%. Mutual trade turnover for January - September of this year increased by more than 11%.

At the same time, the head of the Russian government emphasized that Russia remains the largest supplier for the CIS countries, providing them with goods and resources necessary for sustainable development, and, as the largest economy in the region, is a significant sales market.
According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, foreign trade turnover between Armenia and the CIS countries amounted to $11.3 billion in January-October 2024, an increase of 84.9% year-on-year, due to a 3-fold increase in imports with a 13.5% decline in exports - to $8.5 billion and $2.8 billion, respectively.
Foreign trade turnover between Armenia and the EAEU countries exceeded 2024 $11.1 billion, an increase of 86.8% year-on-year. In particular, imports increased 3-fold with a 13.7% decline in exports - to $8.4 billion and $2.7 billion, respectively. Moreover, the highest volume of foreign trade turnover is with Russia - $10.9 billion, with an annual growth of 91.4%. In particular, imports from the Russian Federation increased 3.1-fold - to $8.3 billion, and exports to the Russian Federation decreased by 13.6% - to $2.6 billion.
