
ArmInfo. Russia remains the main supplier of wheat, wheat flour and corn to Armenia. According to the Customs Service, in the first half of 2024, Armenia purchased the entire volume of imported wheat - 134 thousand tons - from Russia. Compared to the same period last year, supply volumes decreased by 23%.
The customs value decreased by 32.1% to $24.7 million. At the same time, 99.2% of wheat flour is also imported to Armenia from Russia, the remaining volume is distributed between Italy, France, Belarus and Kazakhstan. In total, 17.3 thousand tons of wheat flour were imported into the country during the reporting period, with an annual decrease in volumes by 7%, with a decrease in customs value by 15.6% to $ 4.2 million.
In the first half of 2024, Armenia imported 31.1 thousand tons of corn, which is 11% lower than the figure for the previous year. In value terms, an increase of 2.4% to $ 7.2 million was recorded. And in the case of corn, Russia is also the main supplier, accounting for 99.5%. The remaining volume of corn was imported to Armenia from Serbia, France, Belarus, Turkey, Italy, Iran and Hungary.
According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, the production of finely ground wheat and rye flour in Armenia decreased by 25% during the reporting period, amounting to 67.4 thousand tons.
