ArmInfo. The Yerevan Council of Elders has revised local fees for construction permits.
During the meeting held on December 24, Acting Head of the Yerevan Municipality Department for Accounting and Revenue Collection David Hakobyan noted that for buildings and structures with an area exceeding 3001 sq.m. the fee in 2025 will be 4 million drams. This concerns construction permits in the 8th zone of Yerevan. In 2024, as Hakobyan recalled, the fee is 5 million drams with a 20% discount.
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan recalled in this regard that at the end of 2023, when making a decision to increase the local fee for construction permits to 5 million drams, he faced criticism. However, such changes in the local duty rates alone not only provided the city budget with 24 billion drams in revenues, but also kept the wild pace of construction in the capital. "If these duties had not been adopted last year, the volume of construction would have been significantly higher than what we actually had," he said.
This project, as the mayor further noted, provides for high duties in cases where the developer deviates from the envisaged volumes. , he noted.
With regard to various construction projects erected without permission, Avinyan assured that the mayor's office will apply the necessary tools, pointing out penalties in this regard. At the same time, the mayor reported that in the future the mayor's office will strengthen its toolkit, including a tool that allows demolishing a building, structure, or applying high fines to developers.
