Armenian Interbank Currency Market saw a growth in USD transactions  from January 20- 24, 2025

ArmInfo. January 20 to January 24, 2025, in Armenia's interbank foreign exchange market USD transactions were effected daily in large volumes, while ruble transactions carried out four times, with no Euro transactions  effected.

The total amount of USD  transactions exceeded that of RUB almost 12-fold (from 2 fold a week  earlier).  In parallel with this, on the intra-bank currency market  during the reporting week (20-24.01.25 compared to 13-17.01.25) the  growth of dollar and euro purchases accelerated with a reversal of  the sales trend towards a decline, and in ruble transactions a strong  slowdown in the growth of purchases was accompanied by a reduction in  sales.  January 20 -24, 2025  saw further AMD depreciation against   the USD-AMD 399/$1, with AMD depreciation trend toward the EUR  against AMD 414/1EUR to AMD 419.5/1EUR, and AMD appreciation against  the RUB- AMD 3.86/!RUB to AMD 4.01/1 RUB.

On January 24, 2024, the AMD/USD exchange rate was AMD 404/$1,  AMD/EUR exchange rate - AMD 441/1EUR, and AMD/RUB exchange rate - AMD  4.56/1 RUB, which is evidence of y/y AMD appreciation against the  USD, EUR and RUB.  In particular, the interbank currency market was  active in dollar transactions throughout the week, and empty in ruble  transactions only on Friday (January 24). The maximum volumes of  dollar transactions "appeared" on Monday and Tuesday (January 20 and  21) - $20 million and $25 million, and the largest volume of ruble  transactions occurred on Monday (January 20) - 200 million rubles.

According to the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, on the  interbank currency market from January 20 to 24 this year, the total  volume of USD transactions amounted to $60.5 million at an average  rate of AMD 400.22/$1 (against the same AMD 400.22 /$1 a week  earlier), and the total volume of RUBtransactions amounted to 530  million rubles at an average rate of AMD 3.98/1 RUB (against AMD  3.90/1 RUB a week earlier). The maximum  volumes of dollar transactions "appeared" on Monday and Tuesday  (January 20 and 21) - $20 million and $25 million, and the largest  volume of ruble transactions occurred on Monday (January 20) - 200  million rubles.

On the intra-bank currency market from January 20 to 24 of this year  compared to the previous week (13- 17.01.25), the growth of dollar  purchases accelerated from 29.7% to 52.7% with a reversal of the  sales trend from 50.1% growth towards a 15.1% decline, which was also  observed in euro transactions - an acceleration of purchase growth  from 50% to 66% with a reversal of the sales trend from 78% growth  towards an 8.7% decline, and in ruble transactions, a slowdown in  purchase growth from 3 times to 21.4% was accompanied by a reversal  of the sales trend from a 2-fold growth towards a 2% decline.
