Pashinyan: Armenia`s education system needs improvement to train  qualified professionals for the state

ArmInfo. Our government works slower than all other governments for two reasons, as stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan  during a meeting with representatives of the Armenian Diaspora in Switzerland.

In particular, he noted that the Armenian government lacks  professionalism among its personnel compared to leading global  governments, as well as lower salaries. <And these issues are  interconnected,>  he emphasized.  In this regard, the Prime Minister  clarified that the insufficient professionalism is a result of the  education system in Armenia  not adequately preparing competent  individuals  for government roles.  < It is difficult to convince  individuals with the necessary level of professionalism  to  work for  a monthly salary ranging  from 200,000 to 500,000 AMD, when they can   earn 10 times more private sector they can.  And this is not simply a  matter of patriotism,> emphasized the head of the government. Raising  the salaries of government officials, according to Pashinyan, will  cause a wave of discontent among the public.

At the same time, he said that the laws adopted by the authorities  are not perfect. <When we attempt to pin point  what needs to be  replaced in this law, we encounter a problem. It becomes apparent  that we lack the necessary competencies, knowledge, and education,>   the prime minister said. He continued by explaining that while it may  seem straightforward to change  a <bad> law to a <good> one,  in  practice the <bad> law often proves to be more effective.

<This is a complex management problem that is related to the issues I  have noted. But what is the solution?  We cannot remain stagnant. No  matter how difficult it may be, we must take action, make mistakes,  learn from them, and continue moving forward, even  if it means  making  mistakes again and learning from them. There is no better  teacher than our own path of mistakes. But this is not only just  about us, this is true for all,>  Pashinyan noted.
