ArmInfo. The Competition Protection Commission (CPC) is suggesting offering a subsidy equivalent to the excise tax to genuine fruit vodka, Gegham Gevorgyan, the chairman of the department, said during the final press conference of 2024 on January 27.
Gevorgyan highlighted the challenges face by the fruit vodka market, including the presence of counterfeit products. Thus, research in the field of fruit vodka production has revealed the use of wheat or other alcohols with added flavors, posing issues for both businesses and consumers. To address this, the department has come up with an initiative of providing a subsidy equivalent to the excise tax for genuine producers of fruit vodka.
Gevorkyan hopes that this proposal will spark extensive discussions in the near future and be implemented soon, contributing to both business growth and consumer protection.
