In 2024, wine production in Armenia decreased by 29%

In 2024, there was a rise in the production of cognac, whiskey and beer in Armenia.  However, during the same period, the production of wine (including sparkling wine), vodka, liqueur and other alcoholic beverages saw a notable decline, as evidenced by data from the Statistical Committee  of the Republic of Armenia.

In particular, cognac production increased by 2.5% over the year  compared to a 17% decline in 2023), reaching 19.8 million liters.  Whiskey showed a 6-fold increase to 5.2 million liters (compared to a  55% increase the year before). Beer production increased by 3% during  the reporting period (compared to a 7.5% decline in 2023), totaling  29.1 million liters. Meanwhile, wine production decreased by 29% over  the year (compared to an increase of 11.7% in 2023), totaling just  over 10 million liters. Sparkling wine production dropped by 8.7% to  1.5 million liters (compared to an increase of 13.3% in 2023). During  the reporting year,  Armenia produced 1.3 million liters of vodka,  liqueur and other strong alcoholic beverages, which is 18.3% lower  than the volume of the previous year (compared to a decrease of 21.2%  in 2023). 

According to the RA Customs Service, in the first half of 2024,  Armenia increased its export of Armenian wine by 3.6%, reaching a  volume of 2.1 million liters. At the same time, the customs value  increased by 10.1% - to $8.3 million.  Traditionally, the majority of  exported wine goes to the Russian market - 82.7% (down from 85.5%  previous year). Following Russia,  the United States comes in at 8.5%  (up from 4.2% a year ago), France - almost 1%, Poland - 0.9%, Belgium  - 0.8%, the Netherlands - 0.7%, Italy - 0.6%, Germany - over 0.5%,  and Lithuania - 0.5%. Smaller amounts were sent to Kazakhstan, the  United Kingdom, Canada, Georgia, Bulgaria, Turkmenistan, the Czech  Republic, Latvia and Belarus.Armenia exported less than 1 thousand  liters to the Emirates, Greece, Israel, Lebanon, Switzerland, China,  Australia, Iceland, Spain, India, Japan, Estonia, Austria, Singapore,  Kenya, Hong Kong, Portugal, and Vietnamese markets.

It should be noted that the Customs Service data does not include  specific information on cognac export volumes.
