During a press conference on February 7, Lusine Gevorgyan, the Chairperson of the Tourism Committee of Armenia, stated that tourists who independently organize their vacation in Armenia, including accommodation and food, will spend on average of $700 in our country, while the costs of all tourist services for a vacation organized by tour operators can reach $2000 and more. She also added that organized tourism is chosen by solvent tourists. she said.
At the same time, the head of the Committee emphasized that the information available is only average. That data is the result of surveys conducted by private companies and was obtained from the State Revenue Committee and the Statistical Committee. In this regard, Gevorgyan reported that the Committee is cooperating with a company that works with international payment cards. This partnership will allow for more accurate data on tourist spending in Armenia throughout the year without violating any regulations. She noted that once this information is received, the Committee will definitely make it public.
Note that according to the Tourism Committee, 2.14 million tourists visited Armenia in 2024, which is 7.4% lower than the previous year. Traditionally, the majority of tourists are from Russian (43% or 922.2 thousand), followed by tourists from Georgia (13% or 279.3 thousand), Iran (8.4% or 75.8 thousand), the USA (2.8% or 59.6 thousand), India (2% or 43.5 thousand), China (1.5% or 32.2 thousand), France (1.4% or 28.7 thousand) and others.
