ArmInfo. There are still no calculations in Armenia on the optimal volumes of electricity consumption, on the basis of which it would be possible to build generation facilities. This was stated by energy efficiency expert Astkhine Pasoyan during the panel discussion "Energy Security of the Republic of Armenia. Challenges and Solutions".
According to her, these calculations are necessary, first of all, to assess the possibilities for saving consumed electricity. According to the most modest preliminary estimates, in industry alone, the energy efficiency potential can amount to an average of 15-20%, most of which is gas, while the potential of buildings and structures is at least 50%. Carrying out comprehensive measures in 30 thousand buildings and structures, including by modernizing heating systems, using LED lamps, installing solar panels on roofs, will make it possible to halve the volumes of gas consumed, 60% of which is for heating. The use of energy efficiency systems will also make it possible to save approximately 15-18% of budget funds of local governments.
