
ArmInfo. The Upper Lars checkpoint has opened for passenger cars, but remains closed for heavy vehicles.
This was reported by the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia.
The road to the checkpoint is the only land route connecting Armenia through Georgia with the Russian Federation.
The Rescue Service noted that there are also closed and impassable roads in Armenia. In particular, the roads leading from the high-mountain weather station "Amberd" to Lake Kari and to the Amberd fortress remain closed.
The Berd-Chambarak highway is also closed for all types of vehicles. The Vardenyats Pass is closed for trucks with trailers and is impassable for other vehicles.
The roads to the villages of Noravan-Ltsen, Syunik-Shinuayr-Tatev-Goris, as well as the section called "Vardani Dzor" on the Meghri-Kajaran road are difficult to pass for trucks with trailers.
It is snowing on the Alagyaz-Artik roads, and in some places in the settlements of the Gegharkunik and Syunik regions there is black ice.
