
ArmInfo.The Minister of Finance of Armenia, Vahe Hovhannisyan, and the Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Resident Mission in Armenia, Don Lambert, have signed a loan agreement for a program aimed at improving the quality of healthcare in the country.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Armenia, this agreement is focused on enhancing the efficiency of medical services and implementing targeted management in the healthcare sector. Under the results-based lending program (RBL), the Asian Development Bank will provide a loan of 45.3 million euros. These funds will be used for the construction and improvement of medical institutions, digitalization and institutionalization of health service quality assessment, etc. The program also includes licensing of medical institutions, development of human capital in the healthcare sector, implementation of a telemedicine pilot program and improvement of e-health tools.
It should be noted that ADB has been cooperating with Armenia since 2005. As of April 2024, the Bank has implemented numerous projects in Armenia worth $1.9 billion, aimed at developing the transport, financial, energy, water, and other infrastructure sectors.
