ArmInfo. The Upper Lars checkpoint on the Georgian-Russian border has opened for all types of vehicles. This was stated in a statement by the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia.
"According to information received from the Department of Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars highway is open for all types of vehicles," the statement by the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia says.
At the same time, as the source notes, there are closed roads on the territory of Armenia itself. In particular, the highway leading from the high-mountain weather station "Amberd" to Lake Kari and to the Amberd fortress is completely closed to traffic. The Berd-Chambarak highway is also closed to all types of vehicles. The Vardenyats Pass is difficult to pass for trucks. Let us recall that the Upper Lars checkpoint is the only land route connecting Armenia through Georgia with the Russian Federation.
