ArmInfo. On April 1, at the invitation of the RA NA President Alen Simonyan the delegation led by the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Thanh Man arrived in Yerevan.
As part of the visit, a Vietnam-Armenia round table was held on April 2, in which Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan participated and delivered an opening speech.
The Vice Speaker considered it noteworthy that the trade turnover between Armenia and Vietnam has been growing quite rapidly in recent years. However, according to Arshakyan, there is significant untapped potential between the countries. In this context, he particularly highlighted the growth of export- import supplies of alcoholic beverages, fresh fruits, various types of agricultural and other products, cooperation in high technology, education, science and other areas.
Arshakyan recalled that during the years of the USSR and after Armenia gained independence, a wealth of experience in cooperation was formed between the two countries, there are traditions in the educational, cultural and scientific spheres that need to be preserved and developed. "Many thousands of Vietnamese students studied in Armenian universities, mutual cooperation in the educational and scientific spheres has been established. In this regard, it should be noted that there is a mutual warm relationship between our peoples, and this, of course, can also serve as a very good basis for the development of economic ties," Arshakyan noted.
He welcomed the creation of a platform for dialogue between businessmen, expressing confidence that economic development plays an important role in expanding relations between peoples and at the state level.
According to Arshakyan, the high-level visit will give new impetus to the development of economic, educational, cultural and political ties between Armenia and Vietnam. In this regard, the NA Vice Speaker mentioned the recent visit of the delegation led by NA Speaker Alen Simonyan to Vietnam and expressed confidence that high-level mutual visits will be permanent and will contribute to the development of relations between the countries and peoples.
The welcoming speech was also given by the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Tran Thanh Manh, who spoke about the importance of intensifying relations between the two countries, expanding economic ties, cooperation between business circles, and implementing new initiatives. He also noted that there is untapped potential in a number of areas. According to Tran Thanh Manh, Armenia can become a bridge within the framework of Vietnam-EAEU relations, which can be mutually beneficial.
The event was attended by members of the Armenian government, representatives of the government and parliament of Vietnam, as well as businessmen from both countries.
