Yerevan hosts 31st meeting of working group on canine issues of law  enforcement units of CIS customs services 

ArmInfo. The State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia is hosting the heads of the canine units of the customs services of the CIS member states for the first time.  From April 8 to 10, the 31st meeting of the working group on canine  issues of the law enforcement units of the customs services of the  CIS member states is being held at the Scientific Research Canine  Center of the SRC Anti- Smuggling Department. 

The event was attended by delegations from the Republic of Armenia,  the Russian Federation, Belarus, Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic.  As reported by the SRC press service, welcoming the participants of  the meeting, Karen Balayan, head of the canine research department  (center) of the SRC Anti-Smuggling Department, emphasized that the  meetings of the working groups provide an opportunity to exchange  best practices, and also contribute to strengthening cooperation  between the CIS member states, in particular, training and improving  the qualifications of the personnel potential of the canine services  of law enforcement agencies. "The working meeting held in Yerevan  will have a positive impact on the development of the capabilities of  the Canine Research Center and strengthening its potential in the  fight against smuggling," Karen Balayan emphasized.

According to the head of the working group, the head of the  Cynological Center of the Central Customs of the Federal Customs  Service of Russia Alexey Cherkavsky, the next working meeting in  Yerevan is another opportunity to discuss jointly implemented  programs in the cynological sphere and outline cooperation issues for  the coming years.

During the meeting, issues aimed at improving the professional  capabilities of cynological services of law enforcement agencies of  the CIS member states were discussed. In particular, the progress of  work carried out in 2024 and the activities planned for 2025 were  discussed. The features of developing skills for detecting narcotic  substances in service dogs were presented. Issues related to the  collection and prompt exchange of information between cynological  units, as well as dog training programs, were also discussed.  The  work on organizing multi-sport competitions for the championship  among service dogs of cynological structures was noted.

The delegations of the CIS member states also got acquainted with the  activities of the Scientific Research Center for Canine Science of  the State Revenue Committee, its technical equipment, the working  qualities of service dogs, and the procedure for organizing the  service. It is noted that the guests were impressed by the  capabilities and potential of the Canine Research Center of the State  Revenue Committee. They, in turn, presented the experience of their  countries, as well as the best methods used. , - the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia said  in a statement.
