ArmInfo. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will focus on a housing construction program in Armenia in 2025, benefiting Armenians forcibly displaced from Artsakh in 2023. This was announced on April 9 during a press conference by Don Lambert, the head of the ADB Armenia office.
The housing construction program is estimated at $500 million, with half of the funding provided by ADB and the other half by a partner organization. In response to a question from an ArmInfo correspondent, he noted that the program will be approved in 2025. In the following years, beneficiaries will have the right to choose whether they want housing in Yerevan or outside of the city. Depending on their choice, according to the head of ADB, certain adjustments may be made to the financial aspect of the program. Lambert also noted that one of the priority areas for the Bank for the current year is the project to construct the Sisian-Kajaran road section of the North-South transport corridor, with ADB providing $260 in financing. He also mentioned the signed loan agreement for $50 million in the healthcare sector, as well as plans to expand the program for building seismically resistant schools. The amount of financing for the latter has not been approved yet, and discussions are currently underway. Furthermore, ADB is working closely with the Armenian government on public sector reform.
