EAEU companies  given green light for cabotage transportation in  Armenia

ArmInfo. Freight forwarding companies from the EAEU countries have been granted the right to carry out cabotage transportation in Armenia (between two points within the country). The bill  introducing relevant amendments to the Law <On Automobile Transport> and the Code of Administrative Offenses was approved on April 17 during a government meeting.

The purpose of the draft decision is to establish a common market for  road transport services within the Union and simplify access to these  services for carriers from member states of the Union, regardless of  citizenship and country of registration.  <The liberalization of  cabotage transportation involves reducing the share of empty trips in  the total volume of international transportation, lowering costs for  transporting goods by road within the Union member states, decreasing  the number of violations in the procedure for transporting goods by  road, enhancing the efficiency of using motor vehicles in interstate  cargo transportation, and minimizing the harmful impact on the  environment.  As a result of the liberalization of cabotage  transportation, conditions will be created for the development of  competition in the road transport services market and the  modernization of freight rolling stock. The liberalization of  cabotage transportation involves establishing common conditions and  rules for providing services for freight road transportation within  the Union>, the document states.
