The bill introducing relevant amendments to the Law <On Automobile Transport> and the Code of Administrative Offenses was approved on April 17 during a government meeting.
The purpose of the draft decision is to establish a common market for road transport services within the Union and simplify access to these services for carriers from member states of the Union, regardless of citizenship and country of registration. <The liberalization of cabotage transportation involves reducing the share of empty trips in the total volume of international transportation, lowering costs for transporting goods by road within the Union member states, decreasing the number of violations in the procedure for transporting goods by road, enhancing the efficiency of using motor vehicles in interstate cargo transportation, and minimizing the harmful impact on the environment. As a result of the liberalization of cabotage transportation, conditions will be created for the development of competition in the road transport services market and the modernization of freight rolling stock.
