Only 35,000 of 900,000 indviduals submitted income statements in 2024  - MP

ArmInfo.  About 35 thousand citizens have filed annual declarations on personal income received in 2024,  which is a small percentage. This was stated by the deputy chairman of the standing committee on economic issues of the parliament, member of the ruling faction Babken Tunyan from the rostrum of the parliament on April 21.

Meanwhile, as ArmInfo was previously informed by the State Revenue Committee, about 900 thousand individuals must file a declaration in 2025. According to Tunyan, such a disappointing picture is due to the fact that, firstly, a significant part of potential declarants have problems obtaining ID cards. There are also those who know that the deadline for filing declarations is planned to be extended, that is, they still have time to report to the tax authorities. Thus, the ruling faction proposed to postpone the deadline for filing the Universal Declaration of Income from May 1 to November 1 for those  who file a declaration this year (for income for 2024). Those who must file a declaration next year (for income for 2025) can do so from March 2 to November 1. For subsequent years, the declaration filing deadline will be set from March 2 to July 1.  And reason  number 3, as the ruling faction deputy pointed out, is that , conducted a disinformation campaign against the Universal Declaration system, which caused the current situation.

The implementation of the Universal Declaration of Income system for all citizens-residents of the republic began in 2023. The process is organized in three stages, with the circle of people required to submit a declaration increasing each year. The implementation of the system will be completed in 2025.

At the first stage, the income tax return for 2023 was to be  submitted by citizens who held municipal or state positions as of December 31, 2023 in accordance with the Law . In addition, the first stage included citizens of the RA who, as of December 31, 2023, were participants (shareholders, co- owners, members) of commercial organizations-residents of the RA, who declared a gross income of 1 billion drams or more based on the  results of 2022, as well as those citizens who are considered real beneficiaries according to the RA Law , as well as those who received a loan of 20 million drams or more in 2023.

The annual income tax return for the 2024 reporting year must be submitted by both those who submitted a return for the previous reporting year (2023) and new groups of citizens of the Republic of Armenia who are residents of the Republic of Armenia. In particular, citizens of the Republic of Armenia who are considered employed during 2024 and who received taxable income under civil contracts during 2024. This group of citizens had to submit a return by May 1 of this year, but the authorities decided to extend the deadline  until November 1.

In case of failure to submit an annual tax return within the  established deadline, the tax service will send you a warning. Then, in case of failure to submit a return within 30 days after the warning is applied, you will have to pay a fine of 5 thousand drams (for officials and businessmen - 50 thousand), and a month later - twice as much.
