Counterfeit alcoholic beverage production exposed in Armenia 

ArmInfo.  The State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia has uncovered the fact of counterfeit alcoholic beverage production on the territory of a previously operating liquor and vodka production facility in the city of Abovyan in the Kotayk region.

According to the SRC, during the operational and investigative  activities, the said territory was inspected, as a result of which  equipment intended for organizing the production of vodka, empty vodka bottles with labels of various economic entities, corks, homemade filters, alcohol-containing liquids in various containers, as well as a 1-ton stainless steel container filled with alcohol-containing liquid were discovered. 

In addition, 82 bottles of vodka of various names were discovered, not marked with excise stamps and control identification marks. It is noted that according to the RA Law , vodka production is an activity subject to notification, and the manufacturer is obliged to submit a notification of vodka production, as well as pay an annual state fee.

It turned out that vodka production at the specified address was carried out without notification, which caused particularly large damage to the state.

A criminal case was initiated under the relevant article of the RA Criminal Code.

The State Revenue Committee reminds the public that in order to avoid purchasing counterfeit alcoholic products of unknown origin, citizens can use the mobile application to scan control identification marks, thereby avoiding dangerous consequences.
