ArmInfo.The seismic safety and disaster risk management sphere is a priority for the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and therefore it is especially important that various state structures are actively involved in these processes.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, this statement was made on April 25 by Luc Fochman, Deputy Director of the ADB Permanent Mission to Armenia, during a meeting with Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Mkrtchyan.
In this regard, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs highly appreciated the extensive work carried out within the framework of the program to develop a financing strategy for improving seismic safety and public infrastructure management in the country, emphasizing the significance of cooperation with ADB in the field of disaster risk management. Mkrtchyan also presented the " Disaster Risk Management Strategy for 2023-2030 " and the adoption of the new law "On Disaster Risk Management and Population Protection".
During the meeting, the parties drew attention to the need to improve the seismic resistance of industry infrastructures, within the framework of which the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs emphasized the active participation and cooperation of interested departments. In turn, the members of the delegation presented the work carried out in specific areas, addressing the current situation, risk analysis, the main activities of the Project, and expected results.
