ArmInfo. At the sitting of April 30, the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs debated the draft conclusion on the substantiation of the proposals submitted by the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Cooperation Association NGO by the collective petition on the repeal of the Laws HO 340-N on Making Addenda and Amendments to the RA Tax Code adopted by the RA NA on October 25, 2023 and HO-285-N on Amending the RA Tax Code adopted on June 12, 2024, as well as on not adopting the draft law on Making Addenda and Amendments to the RA Tax Code (K-960- 11.11.2024- ’• -011/1) in the second reading.
The petition proposes to eliminate the tax amendments that are detrimental to small businesses. The SME Association Management Board Chairman Hakob Avagyan spoke about the problems that have arisen in the SME sector, considered it unacceptable to adopt a norm that worsens the situation in the middle of the year. It is proposed to cancel the provisions that entered into force on January 1 of this year. Hakob Avagyan attached importance to the impact assessment and expressed his willingness to cooperate in this matter.
The Deputy Chair of the Committee Babken Tunyan once again stated that the objective of the Government was not to increase the tax burden on SMEs, but to ensure equal conditions for everyone. According to the MP, before adopting the above regulations, this issue was repeatedly discussed in different formats with the participation of those responsible for the sector. According to the Deputy Chair of the Committee, it is unrealistic at this time to cancel the regulation that entered into force several months ago, which was debated in detail and adopted and there are no counterarguments presented in relation to it. The Committee members voted to reject the collective petition proposals.
