ArmInfo. In Q1 2025, Armenia's metallurgical industry saw a 20% reduction in production compared to the same period in 2024 (against 36% growth a year ago). According to the RA Statistical Committee, the shift from growth to decline is due to the deterioration in the dynamics of copper and molybdenum concentrate production, and the ongoing reduction in ferromolybdenum and aluminum foil production.
Specifically, copper concentrate production in Armenia decreased by 23.7% year-on-year (compared to a 55.2% growth the previous year), totaling 60.7 thousand tons. Molybdenum concentrate production also decreased by 26.9% year-on-year (compared to a 2.4% growth the previous year), totaling 3,175.4 thousand tons. Ferromolybdenum production saw a slight slowdown in the year-on-year decline, dropping from 44.1% to 30.7%, totaling 846.3 tons. The production of aluminum foil experienced a more noticeable decline year-on-year - from 35.3% to 5.3%, totaling 4,684.6 thousand tons. Conversely, zinc concentrate production accelerated in year-on-year growth from 9.7% to 23.6%, totaling 2,966 thousand tons. The production of steel pipes, hollow sections and fittings, which had been steadily growing, saw a sharp slowdown from 44.5% to 11.4% per annum, amounting to 5,406.8 thousand tons.
All metals produced in Armenia are primarily exported to Europe and the USA.
