ArmInfo.n Q1 2025, Armenia's trade sector revenue slowed in annual growth from 26.5% to 6%, amounting to 1.31 trillion drams ($3.4 billion). According to data from the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in March of this year, trade turnover in Armenia increased by 16.9%, reaching 521 billion drams ($1.3 billion).
In particular, wholesale trade in Q1 2025 slowed in annual growth, dropping from 39.8% to 5.9%, generating revenue of 874 billion drams, and retail - from 9.3% to 5%, providing revenue of 417 billion drams. During the same period, the volume of car purchases/sales shifted from an 8% decline towards a 15.2% decline, totaling 52.7 billion drams. Within retail trade, shops (including supermarkets) accounted for the largest turnover at 82.5% or 344.1 billion drams (with an annual growth of 4.8%), other retail outlets - 11.4% or 47.6 billion drams (with an annual growth of 8.6%), followed by consumer goods markets - 3.8% or 16 billion (annual growth of 0.7%), kiosks - 1.3% or 5.5 billion (annual decline of 1.3%), and agricultural markets - 1% or 3.7 billion annual growth of 7.9%). Wholesale trade dominates the overall trade turnover of Armenia at 65%, followed by retail - 31%, with the remaining 4% attributed to the purchase/sale of cars. The average exchange rate of the dram in January-March 2025 was AMD 395.42 /$1, and in March - AMD 392.78/$1.
