At the initiative of the Deputy Chairperson of the RA National Assembly Committee on European Integration Meri Galstyan, working discussions were held with the RA Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Armen Simonyan and representatives of the ministry's staff, during which the main attention was paid to the implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between Armenia and the European Union, in particular, in the area of energy and transport reforms.
As reported by the RA NA press service, during the discussions it was noted that in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the agreement, draft laws "On Electric Power Industry" and "On Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Saving" have been developed, which are at the stage of discussions with industry departments and the collection of opinions. It is planned to officially launch the draft laws by the end of the year.
It was noted that the transport block has implemented and is implementing activities related to the technical inspection of vehicles, maintenance and improvement of safety of public roads, regulation of transportation of dangerous goods, requirements for drivers and organizations engaged in transportation of dangerous goods, processes of compliance with other directives. The Deputy Chairperson of the Commission stressed the importance of finding effective formats for direct cooperation with EU Member States in various sectors, as well as the need for targeted, effective and timely information on problems arising in the implementation process. Participants pointed out the importance of effective use of EU expert and technical assistance, as well as the possibility of improving support mechanisms.
