ArmInfo. Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Eduard Hakobyan is participating in the 8th High-Level Meeting of the Asia Initiative of the OECD Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, taking place from May 26 to 28 in North Male, Maldives.
As reported by the press service of the SRC, Eduard Hakobyan, as a representative of one of the co- chairing countries, is co-chairing the meeting alongside the head of the Maldives Tax Authority. Hakobyan reiterated the significance of the Asia Initiative's efforts both for the participating countries and for Armenia.
At the conference, the SRC Chairman presented the key achievements and strategic priorities outlined in the OECD Global Forum's 2025 "Tax Transparency in Asia" report. He specifically highlighted Armenia's progress in aligning with OECD standards, noting the country's preparations for its first exchange of financial account information under the OECD Common Reporting Standard, scheduled for autumn 2025. Hakobyan also emphasized the importance of the subsequent analytical work and risk assessments that will be carried out based on the information received.
Established in 2022 under the auspices of the OECD Global Forum, the Asia Initiative aims to strengthen the implementation of international standards on transparency and information exchange across the region. The OECD Global Forum, which includes 171 member jurisdictions, among them all G20 countries, and 23 observer organizations, is the leading international body promoting global standards for tax transparency and the exchange of information.
