Economy Minister: Decrease in  EAEU tourists  balanced by rise in  Middle East, Western Europe, China and US visitors

ArmInfo. Unfortunately, in 2024, Armenia saw a significant drop in the number of tourists arriving from the EAEU. However, this decline was counterbalanced by a significant increase in tourists from the Middle East, Western Europe, China and the United States. Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan stated this in Parliament on June 5, noting  that the  share of Russian tourists has decreased from 50% to 39%  compared to the previous year. He emphasized that this compensation helped limit the overall decrease in tourist flow to Armenia to just 4.6% over the past year.

The minister noted that the department is implementing strategies to further offset the decline in tourists from the Eurasian region. Papoyan mentioned the a visa-free regime has been introduced  for citizens of the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman and their residents.  Additionally, he noted that direct flights are being carried out by Fly Dubai. Efforts are being made  develop relations with other markets, including the Hungarian low-cost airline WizzAir,  resulting is the recent launch of direct flights connecting Yerevan with various European cities.
