ArmInfo. Today, thanks to negotiations with the Georgian side, 52 vehicles loaded with Armenian alcoholic beverages, which had been stuck at the Gezi terminal for over a month, have left for Russia, as announced by Gevorg Papoyan, Minister of Economy of Armenia, during a session in Parliament.
Referring to the promises made by the Georgian side, he stated that, the issue of the remaining 72 vehicles will be resolved within the next 5 days. Additionally, the minister noted that tomorrow (on the occasion of the Days of Georgian Culture - ed.) the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Georgia will arrive in Armenia. The situation with the freight carriers will also be discussed.
When asked by deputies whether there was a risk that the Georgian side would do the same with products sent to the EU, Papoyan noted that the department is tasked with creating an isotope laboratory. The laboratory would conduct research to determine, for example, the composition of the alcohol used in exported cognac. With this laboratory in place, Armenian freight carriers, according to the minister, will no longer encounter such restrictions.
