ArmInfo. In January-April 2025, the industrial sector of Armenia reduced production by 16.1% (against 26.1% growth a year ago) - to 812.3 billion drams (over $ 2.1 billion). Such dynamics were due to a double-digit decline in the manufacturing industry and the still sagging mining industry. According to the Statistical Committee, in April alone, industrial production was also in decline - by 3.9% to 212.4 billion drams ($ 543.7 million).
In particular, in the mining industry and open-pit mining, a slowdown in the annual decline was recorded from 7.2% to 6.8%, with volumes of 135 billion drams.
In just one month, the mining industry showed a slight decline of 0.5% - to 37.9 billion drams.
The manufacturing industry reversed its annual dynamics from 40.7% growth to a 23.5% decline, with a volume of 535.4 billion drams provided for January-April 2025. At the same time, over the month, the manufacturing sector reduced its volumes by 2% - to 145.4 billion drams.
The decline in the manufacturing industry was mainly due to the production of basic metals - by 77.5%, jewelry - by 73.6%, beverages - by 14.3%, other non-metallic products - by 11.2%, furniture - by 11.5%.
Significant growth was demonstrated by the production volumes of machinery and equipment - 2.5 times, computers, electronic and optical equipment - by 83%, motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers - by 70.9%, chemical industry - by 39.1%.
In the manufacturing industry, the leading products in terms of production volumes are food products (167 billion drams), cigarettes (95.2 billion), basic metals (64.1 billion), and beverages (58.1 billion drams).
According to statistics, the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning in January-April 2025 increased by 11.7% year-on-year to 132.1 billion drams. In April alone, a 17.5% decline was recorded to 26.5 billion drams.
Moreover, the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity during the reporting period increased by 13.5% year-on-year, while gas production and distribution of gaseous fuels through gas supply systems increased by 5.5%.
Income from water supply, waste treatment and processing, and the production of secondary raw materials during the reporting period increased by 1.2%, amounting to 9.7 billion drams. In monthly terms, this segment showed growth of 3.1% - over 2.5 billion drams. Moreover, the upward annual dynamics were mainly due to the collection and treatment of wastewater - growth of 3.8%.
Note that the average settlement rate of the dram in January-April 2025 was 394.24 drams / $ 1, and in April - 390.71 drams / $ 1.
