ArmInfo. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a working breakfast with members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia (AmCham) in Armenia, who represent companies from various sectors.
As reported by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of such meetings and noted that they are a good opportunity to discuss all issues of mutual interest.
According to Nikol Pashinyan, this also forms a specific agenda for further cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and members of the American Chamber of Commerce.
AmCham President Elina Markaryan thanked the Government of the Republic of Armenia for supporting the institutional dialogue with the private sector and emphasized the importance of strengthening further cooperation. Then, the main areas of AmCham's activities were presented, emphasizing its commitment to serve as a bridge between the government and the business community.
The meeting discussed economic policy issues related to attracting investments, improving the business environment, tax regulation, and ongoing reforms. The parties stressed the importance of ongoing dialogue and confirmed their readiness to continue close cooperation in order to enhance Armenia's economic sustainability and international competitiveness.
The Armenian authorities intend to nationalize the company, which is part of the Tashir Group of Companies, headed by Samvel Karapetyan. The latter, by decision of the Yerevan court, is under arrest for two months after he publicly expressed support for the Armenian Apostolic Church. He is accused of calling for the seizure of power.
As many experts note, such actions by the Armenian authorities will lead to a deterioration in the business and investment environment, capital outflow and a decrease in the country's sovereign rating.
