ArmInfo. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan chaired a meeting to discuss draft Armenian Export Strategy for 2025-2030.
As reported by the Prime Minister's press service, the project priorities, action plan, and results were presented. Details about ensuring a competitive environment contributing to exports, infrastructure development and logistics access, development of exporters and their capacity, expansion of markets and clients were discussed as well. The selection of key export products and services, as well as target markets, were addressed. The Prime Minister instructed officials to continue refining the program, taking into account the insights and feedback made during the meeting.
Note that according to statistics, the volume of exports for January-April 2025 amounted to $2.4 billion, showing a reversal in annual dynamics from a 2.8-fold growth towards a 60.3% decline. The volume of imports amounted to $3.9 billion, also experiencing a decline in annual dynamics from a 2.1-fold growth to a 46.5% decline. As a result, the volume of foreign trade turnover fell by 52.9% year-on-year (compared to a 2.4-fold growth a year ago), amounting to $6.3 billion in January-April 2025. The July forecast of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia predicts that the growth in exports and imports, which were almost identical in 2025 by 35.6-31.4%, will worsen in 2025 to a decline of 32.3-36.4% (for exports) and 29-34.2% (for imports). Looking ahead to 2026, the Central Bank expects an improvement in the dynamics of both exports towards 5.4-5% growth, and imports, towards 4.7-3.1% growth.
