ArmInfo. Armenia's simultaneous membership in the EU and the EAEU is impossible, but Russia will respect Armenia's choice, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, as reported by Interfax.
"The Armenian parliament has passed a law expressing their desire to join the European Union. We are closely monitoring the developments in Armenia in this regard. We will always respect the Armenian people's choice, but we understand, and his was confirmed by Nikol Vovaevich Pashinyan, that Armenia cannot be part of both the Eurasian Economic Union and the EU," Overchuk told journalists on Friday.
Overchuk said that he is going to sign a letter to Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan stating that "these actions go against the norms of the Eurasian Economic Union."
"We will discuss the matter of applying appropriate measures," Overchuk emphasized.
