ArmInfo. Armenia, like many other landlocked countries, faces many challenges due to its geographical location, mountainous terrain and dependence on transit routes passing through neighboring states, as stated by Minister of Economy of Armenia Gevorg Papoyan, while addressing a ministerial meeting at the 44th session of the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) Conference, held in Rome from June 28 to July 4.
He emphasized that these factors often result in high production and logistics costs, making the agri-food systems more vulnerable. "Nevertheless, Armenia is determined to realize its agricultural potential by promoting strategic initiatives, innovative solutions and deepening international partnerships," the head of the department assured. In that context, he presented state support instruments aimed at overcoming existing challenges in agriculture and providing assistance to entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy, Papoyan also presented the Armenian government's Crossroads of Peace project to the meeting participants, emphasizing its goal of developing communications with neighboring countries. He also reaffirmed Armenia's readiness to enhance cooperation with FAO and partners from leading countries.
According to the source, new FAO strategic documents addressing global challenges in climate, agriculture and food security were approved during the conference.
