Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister participates in  4th International  Conference on Financing for Development in Seville

ArmInfo.On July 2, in Seville, on the sidelines of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, Deputy Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan participated and delivered remarks at the discussion on "Upholding the multilateral trading system, and harnessing the potential of  science, technology and innovation".

According to the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the  Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia drew the attention  of the attendees to the challenges facing the international trading  system, emphasizing their negative impact, especially for landlocked,  least developed and small island developing countries. In this  context, the unanimous adoption of the outcome document of the 4th  International Conference on Financing for Development, the  "Compromiso de Sevilla", was highlighted as an important commitment  aimed at developing trade-related physical and digital components of  infrastructure and promoting the integration of regional and global  markets, including for landlocked countries.

In his remarks, the Deputy Foreign Minister noted that Armenia, as a  middle-income country, advocates for a universal, rules-based, fair,  open, just, predictable and inclusive multilateral trading system  under the World Trade Organization.

Touching upon the potential of science, technology, and innovation in  sustainable economic development, Deputy Foreign Minister Robert  Abisoghomonyan presented priorities and achievements of Armenia in  the fields of information and telecommunications technologies and  innovation, emphasizing the role of digital ecosystems in addressing  existing digital gaps and improving interconnectivity.

The Deputy Foreign Minister also touched upon the importance of  developing transport routes, which are at the core of sustainable and  long-term economic development. In this context, the importance of  the "Crossroads of Peace" initiative of the Government of Armenia  aimed at unblocking transport infrastructure in the South Caucasus  and the wider region, based on respect for the sovereignty and  national jurisdiction of all states, as well as the principles of  equality and reciprocity was emphasized.
