ArmInfo.On July 2, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MECS) of the Republic of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, received a delegation led by the Head of the Department of the European Investment Bank, Matteo Rivellini. According to the press service of the MECS, the meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister Araksya Svajyan and Head of the EIB South Caucasus Regional Office Maciej Czura.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the progress of cooperation with the European Investment Bank in education, future initiatives, as well as the potential for expanding current programs. Zhanna Andreasyan emphasized the importance of cooperation with the EIB, particularly, in human capital development. The meeting also highlighted the significance of the projects implemented with the support of the EIB in the Syunik region. Matteo Rivellini, in turn, noted that education is one of the key areas of the EU-Armenia partnership. He expressed confidence in the success of the projects implemented in Syunik, while also emphasizing the importance of strengthening the legal framework for cooperation through signing a bilateral agreement.
During the meeting, the reforms caused by the introduction of a new general education standard, as well as the priorities for modernizing the vocational education sector were discussed. The Minister said that in 2024, the National Assembly adopted a new law "On Vocational Education", which was developed with the support of the EU and other international partners through long-term cooperation. "We are restructuring the entire educational process, changing the list of professions, teaching methods and programs," the Minister noted. In this context, she also emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with the private sector and the economy to develop the vocational education system.
