ArmInfo. In Q1 2025, the unemployment rate in Armenia decreased to 13.9% from 15.5% in the same period of 2024, as evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.
In parallel with this, the employment rate in the country also increased to 50.1% in the first quarter of 2025 from 48.7% in the first quarter of 2024. According to the source, the number of employed people during the reporting period amounted to 1,159.1 million, which is 3.8% higher than the previous year. The number of unemployed people was 187.4 thousand people, with a decrease of 8.3% over the year. As of June 1, 2025, the demand for labor from employers decreased by 3.7% over the year - to 3,154 people, and the load per 1 vacant position was 17 people (annual decline of 19%). By the end of the reporting period, a total of 4,617 citizens managed to find employment in Armenia, marking a 16.8% decrease from the previous year. Of those employed, 2,634 were female (an annual decline of 16.3%), and 1,983 were male (an annual decline of 17.4%).
According to statistics, the average hourly labor price index in the first quarter of 2025 was 102.2% (excluding seasonality) and 104% (seasonally adjusted), compared to 103.5% and 104.1%, respectively, in the same period of 2024. Additionally, the wage index in the reporting period was 102.2% (excluding seasonality) and 103.3% (seasonally adjusted), compared to 103.5% and 103.9%, respectively, in the same period of 2024. These indicators, accounting seasonality, showed a more significant decrease on a quarterly basis (from 105.8% and 105.6% in the fourth quarter of 2024).
