Every year, Lori region loses $40 million due to untapped tourism  potential

ArmInfo.  If, on average 1.9 million tourists visit Armenia annually, then  only 4% or 75,000 people choose the Lori region for their vacation, as stated by Gor Harutyunyan, referring to the conducted research, while presenting his author's project,  Ari Lori,  within the Wings Innovative Ideas Competition held at Tech Week Vanadzor-2025.

According to him,  out of the total number of tourists, 25% are  dissatisfied with the quality of services, and 100% lack information about the potential and features of the region. "Tourists simply do not know what to see and do in Lori," he noted. Harutyunyan's project aims to collect and systematize all information about the available services and attractions in the region, as well as conduct training programs for local residents in  hospitality and tourism, enabling them to create a permanent source of income. This will also ensure sustainable growth of tourist flow for the economy. According to him, Lori loses $ 40 million annually due to untapped tourist potential. The launch of the Ari Lori project, as its author assured, will help generate these funds in the region. It will also increase  tourist traffic from 4% to 10%, encouraging them to spend at least 3 days in  the region, instead of just making a quick stop on their way to   Tavush or Georgia, as is currently the case.
