Armenia`s government to direct huge funds to information and  cybersecurity 

ArmInfo.  The state will allocate significant funds to the spheres of cyber defense and information security. This was stated by the Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, speaking during the opening ceremony of the Cyber Security Hackathon, which is being held in Tsaghkadzor from July 9 to 11.

In recent years the government has been talking a lot about the need to expand the state's capabilities in the field of cyber defense, proper protection of critical infrastructure and vital services, he noted the importance of forming human capital with relevant professional competencies. The Minister also emphasized that Armenia has already made its choice in favor of digital transformation. "Armenia will not give up on its dream of becoming a regional technology hub and will confidently move towards this goal," the head of the department said.

According to the press service of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry, dozens of specialists from government agencies, the financial sector, telecommunications and companies providing vital services are participating in the Hackathon. During the Hackathon, teams will offer technological solutions to the tasks.  The best three teams, according to the jury, will be awarded cash prizes of 2.5 million drams, 1.5 million drams and 1 million drams.

The goal of the event is to increase the potential and readiness of IT, information security and cybersecurity specialists to counter cyber threats and challenges, as well as to promote cooperation between critical infrastructures to increase resilience to cyber incidents.
