Idram and Alipay+ Facilitate Cross-Border QR Payments in Armenia, Opening the Caucasus to Global Digital Wallet Users

ArmInfo.  Global travellers to Armenia can now make seamless and secure cross-border QR payments with Alipay+, enhancing the tourism experience across the country at over 85% of the country’s merchants.

• Users of 13 popular digital wallets will be able to make mobile payments at launch, with further compatibility rolled out to additional Alipay+ partner wallets and banking apps over time.

Idram, Armenia’s leading digital payment platform, has partnered with Alipay+, a global digital wallet gateway operated by Ant International, to officially launch the Alipay+ in Armenia, facilitating cross-border QR payments. This collaboration marks Alipay+’s first entry into the Caucasus region, significantly boosting the country’s digital payment infrastructure and travel readiness for global tourists.

With this integration, Alipay+ users will now be able to seamlessly scan Idram QR codes to make cross-border payments at thousands of Armenian businesses using their preferred home e-wallet, while also gaining access to local offers and loyalty programs.

Over the coming months, Idram will be enabling Alipay+ users gradually rolled out across 85% of Armenian retail and hospitality businesses and support for multiple Alipay+ partner digital wallets will also expand over time, increasing convenience for a wide range of international visitors. Top supermarkets and popular tourist merchants will accept Alipay+ at launch, enabling a more convenient travel experience.

Within two months, 25,000 merchant locations across Armenia—including stores, restaurants, and hotels—will become Alipay+ enabled through Idram’s merchant network. Brand visibility will be reinforced through new Alipay+ POS materials to guide international users toward QR-friendly merchants.

Mr. Kdenian also noted that within the framework of the partnership, Idram will continue to work with Alipay+ towards opening up opportunities for Idram wallet users to pay in the Alipay+ merchant network globally.

Alipay+ allows 100 million merchants in 70 countries and regions to serve 1.7 billion user accounts from around the world.
