
ArmInfo. The population of Armenia exceeded 3.084 million people by July 2025, increasing by 0.8% or 26.6 thousand people year-on-year (compared to 3.8% growth or 112.3 thousand people a year earlier), as evidenced by data from the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
During the reporting period, the population of Yerevan also increased by 0.8% or 9.3 thousand people (compared to 3.9% growth the previous year), reaching 1.143.3 million people. Thus, 37.1% of the total population of the country is concentrated in the capital. The urban population as of the reporting date is 1.975 million people or 64% of the total (with an annual growth of 0.1%, compared to 5% growth the previous year), while in villages there are 1.110 million people or 36% (annual growth of 2.3%, compared to 1.6% growth the previous year). According to statistics, the most densely populated region is Kotayk, with 294.9 thousand people, followed by two regions close to the capital - Armavir (269.2 thousand people) and Ararat (269 thousand people). Slightly fewer people live in Shirak - 242.2 thousand, Lori - 229.1 thousand, and Gegharkunik - 216.7 thousand. 135.6 thousand people live in Aragatsotn, followed by Tavush and Syunik (117.7 thousand and 117.3 thousand people). Vayots Dzor remains the most sparsely populated region of the country, with only 49.4 thousand people living there.
