ArmInfo. In 2024, Armenia increased its copper ore exports by 20.4% - to 341.5 thousand tons (compared to a 20.4% decline in 2023). The customs value of copper ore also saw a 15.5% increase, totaling $558.3 million, as evidenced by data from the Customs Service of the Republic of Armenia.
Copper ore was mainly exported to China (76.6%), Bulgaria (13.3%), Serbia (2.8%), Switzerland (2.6%), Russia (2.4%), and Iran (2.2%). Smaller quantities were exported to the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Australia.
Export supplies of zinc concentrate also increased by 29.6% (compared to a decline of 23.8% in 2023), amounting to 11.6 thousand tons and the customs value increased by 42% - to $ 17.6 million. The entire volume, as in the previous year, was sent to Belgium. Meanwhile, the export of molybdenum concentrate increased by 2.5% during the reporting year (compared to a 8.2% growth in 2023), reaching 11.4 thousand tons, with a decrease in customs value by 4.1% - to $ 220.6 million. Armenia supplied molybdenum concentrate to the markets of Belgium (41.6%), China (17.9%), Russia (13.2%), Hong Kong (7.7%), the Republic of Korea (6.3%), Thailand (5.3%), the Netherlands (4.9%), as well as Slovenia, Austria, India, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Exports of ores containing precious metals increased by 23.2% in 2024 (compared to a 6.2% decline in 2023), amounting to 23.8 thousand tons, with an increase in customs value by 66.6% - to $126.5 million.
The majority of exported ores containing precious metals went to the Swiss market (67%), and the rest went to Malaysia (14.8%), Peru (5.7%), Hong Kong (1.4%), China (0.1%). Very small volumes were delivered to the markets of the United Kingdom, Indonesia and the Netherlands.
According to the RA Statistical Committee, in 2024, Armenia produced 301.6 thousand tons of copper concentrate (annual growth of 4.1%), 10.5 thousand tons of zinc concentrate (annual growth of 28.7%), and 17.1 thousand tons of molybdenum concentrate (annual decline of 26.9%).
