The staff of the advance group of the Russian Foreign Ministry for the opening of the Consulate General in Kapan, together with the head of the UNDP Sustainable Communities program Arman Valesyan, got acquainted with the implementation of a number of projects carried out by UNDP in the region with Russian funding.
As reported by the press service of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, participants in various programs in the field of beekeeping, winemaking, tourism proudly demonstrated the results of their work, noted significant progress in the development of households after joining these initiatives.
The beneficiaries of the Greenhouse project - an internally displaced person from Nagorno-Karabakh R. Yu. Grigoryan, living in Kapan, and a resident of the border village of Agarak M. E. Safaryan spoke about the high efficiency of the modern greenhouses and related equipment provided to them for use, as well as the great demand for the vegetable products they grow. Shared plans for further development, discussed technical aspects of using greenhouses in winter with UNDP specialists. In total, 17 greenhouse facilities have already been built in various communities in the Syunik region.
Taking into account the successful experience, UNDP launched an improved model of the project - "Nexus" - a greenhouse cluster for the villages of Verinshen and Akner in the Goris community of the Syunik region, which unites the resources of rural and urban communities and creates new opportunities for economic development. Applications for participation after the theoretical course "Growing Plants in Greenhouse Conditions" were submitted by 18 families.
