ArmInfo. Director of the US State Department's Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Brendan Henrehen announced $145 million in aid to Armenia at a meeting with Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan. This was reported by the press service of the Armenian government.
According to Henrehen, this will be the first tranche of funding to implement the Trump administration's "Trump Roadmap for International Peace and Prosperity" and related agreements reached on August 8, by supporting investments in trade, infrastructure, critical mineral supply chains, and cross-border security.
In turn, the Armenian Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the agreements reached following the meetings in Washington on August 8 and expressed hope that through joint efforts it will be possible to develop bilateral relations within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Armenia and the United States of America.
The interlocutors discussed regional developments and the possibilities of unblocking communications, and also touched upon the importance of the "Trump Path to International Peace and Prosperity" project.
The Meghri route is a project for a transport route about 40 km long through the territory of the Syunik region of Armenia, which would provide transport links between the western regions of Azerbaijan and its exclave, the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic. The opening of transport routes in the region was envisaged by paragraph 9 of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, by the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. Meanwhile, Azerbaijan is trying to distort the essence of these agreements and get an extraterritorial corridor. On August 8, an agreement was reached in Washington between Yerevan and Baku, with US mediation, on the implementation of this project called the "Trump Route for Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP).
