The Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia reminds that  commemorative coins are coins made of precious metals issued to  present to society national, international, historical, cultural,  spiritual and other values of the country, to perpetuate them in  metal, as well as to meet the demand in the numismatic market.

Like any coin, commemorative coins have a nominal value, due to which  they act as a means of payment.  However, the nominal value of  commemorative coins is significantly lower than the cost price, which  consists of the cost of the precious metal used to make the coin,  production costs and other expenses. The low nominal value and high  cost price allow us to consider this type of coin not as a means of  payment used in monetary circulation, but as a collectible.

Commemorative coins, being a collectible, are issued in limited  editions and are not reissued.  Numismatists, collectors and those  who simply wish can purchase commemorative coins of the Republic of  Armenia in the "Dramaget" (numismatist) shop of the Central Bank of  Armenia, located in the building of the Central Bank of the Republic  of Armenia.
