RA Customs Service to join establishment of CIS Expert Center 

ArmInfo.  On September 18, at its regular meeting, the Armenian government approved a proposal to sign a draft Agreement "On the Center for Expertise and Research for  Customs Purposes of the Customs Services of the CIS Member States."

As stated in the explanatory note to the document, the Center for  Expertise and Research for Customs Purposes of the Customs  Authorities of the CIS Member States is intended to organize and  facilitate interaction between expert institutions of the customs  authorities of the Parties, as well as constructive cooperation with  international and research organizations and their structures.

The Center's main activities are:

- Implementation of informational, analytical, and  scientific-methodological cooperation.

- The Parties in conducting expert examinations and research for  customs purposes.

- Organization of practical, scientific, and technical cooperation  between the Parties in conducting expert examinations and research  for customs purposes.

- Development of unified approaches to organizing the work of the  customs authorities of the Parties in appointing and conducting  expert examinations and research for customs purposes. The main  objective of this Agreement is to develop unified approaches to  organizing the work of customs authorities of the CIS member states  in appointing and conducting expert examinations and research. The  entire scope of the Center's functions is aimed at organizing joint  work in the field of expert research for customs purposes.  The  Agreement will contribute to increasing the effectiveness of the  customs authorities of the CIS member states in protecting the  economy, strengthening security, and combating customs offenses, as  well as developing the potential and professional skills of experts.

The powers of the expert institution with the status of Center are  exercised for a period of five years.  The costs associated with the  implementation of the Center's powers are covered by the Party whose  expert institution has been granted Center status, as well as by the  Center's own funds and funds raised in accordance with the  legislation of the Parties.

Previously, the CIS Executive Committee announced that the signing of  the agreement on the Center for Expertise and Research is planned for  the 81st meeting in September 2025, subject to the readiness of the  customs services of the CIS member states.
